Mag Ni Dal

Ingredients:

1 cup Moong Dal Yellow Split

½ tsp Oil

½ tsp Ghee (Clarified Butter)

½ tsp Fenugreek Seeds

½ tsp Mustard Seeds

½ tsp Cumin Seeds

¼ tsp Turmeric Powder

¼ tsp Asafoetida

6 Cloves of Garlic Finely Chopped

2 tbsp Ginger Paste

2-3 Green Chilies (Depending on how spicy you want it)

1 Tomato Chopped

2 tbsp Coriander

Salt to taste


Method:

  1. Wash and soak the split moong dal for 20 minutes in warm water.

  2. Add the tomato, turmeric powder and salt, boil with 2¼ cups of water until it’s cooked.

  3. In a Futura Hard Anodised Tadka Spice Heating Pan, add oil and ghee.

  4. When hot add the fenugreek seeds, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, asafoetida, green chillies and garlic, sauté for 30 seconds, now add the ginger paste and sauté for minute.

  5. Then pour the tadka into the boiled dal and mix well, simmer on a low heat for 10 minutes, add the chopped coriander and mix well.

  • Enjoy hot with Bhakari or on its own!
