Harissa Chutney

Preparation and Cooking Time: 15 min (plus 6 hours soaking time)


Ingredients:

20-25 Dry Red Chillies Deseeded

5 Cloves Garlic Chopped

1 tsp of Lime Juice

1½ tsp Coriander Seeds

1 tsp Cumin Seeds

1 tsp Caraway Seeds (Shahi Jeera)

1½ tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil

1½ tsp Paprika or Kashmiri Chilli Powder

½ tsp Cayenne Pepper or Red Chilli Powder

Salt to taste


Method:

  1. Soak the chillies in warm water for 6 hours.

  2. In a pan, dry-roast the coriander, cumin, and caraway seeds for 2-3 minutes. Let it cool, then grind everything into a fine powder and set aside.

  3. In the blender, add the soaked chillies, garlic, lime juice, 1½ tsp spice powder, paprika, cayenne pepper and salt.

  4. Blend the chutney to a grainy consistency, then add the olive oil and mix well.


  • Enjoy the chutney with your food or favourite snacks or as a marinade.
