Puran Puri

Cooking Time: 25 mins Serves: 4-5

Ingredients:

Puran Filling

2 Cups Wheat Flour

2¼ tbsp Oil

Ghee for Spreading (Clarified Butter)

How to make Puran Puri:

  1. Follow the steps of how to make the chapati dough.

  2. Roll out one portion of the dough about 12cm round, keeping the edges thin.

  3. Make a puran ball about 1½ inches round, place it in the centre, fold the dough's edges over the filling, then pinch the edges all together to seal the filling.

  4. Flatten the dough and sprinkle some wheat flour on the balls, then roll out the chapati with a rolling pin about 4½-5 inches circle very softly.

  5. To ensure the chapati comes out perfectly, keep rotating the chapatis every few seconds whilst rolling out.

  6. Heat a Tawa pan on a medium-low flame, place the chapati on the Tawa pan for a minute or so.

  7. Flip and cook for about a minute or so, then flip again and press down with a tea cloth or wooden roti chapati press; it will start to puff up.

  8. Flip on both side and cook till you see brown spots in the picture below.

  9. Once done, put it on a plate and spread ½ tbsp of ghee on top.

  • Serve hot with valor ringan nu shaak and Kadhi.

NB: To enjoy the puran puri, spread ½ tbsp of ghee.
