Ingredients

2 Cups Wheat Flour

½ tsp Turmeric Powder

½ tsp Red Chilli Powder

½ tsp Coriander Cumin Powder (Dhana Jiru)

½ tsp Black Pepper

½ tsp Salt

2½ tbsp Oil


Method

  • In a large mixing bowl add the flour with the turmeric, red chilli powder, dhana jeera, black pepper, salt and oil, mix well until the oil has combined with the flour.

  • Start with ½ cup of water and knead into a firm and tight dough.

  • If you find the dough dry, then add more water, about a tablespoon or so, leave the dough to rest for ten minutes.

  • Divide the dough into small pieces about 2½ cm and shape into round balls.

  • Roll out the dough into even circles about 7-8 cm which is not too thick or thin.

  • Meanwhile, heat the oil in a deep frying pan.

  • Once the oil has become hot, add the puris and fry by pressing down gently to allow it to puff up.

  • Once puffed, turn over and fry until the puri turns to a light golden brown colour.
